DAYSAILING CHARTERS
A Day Aboard Valora
The day of your charter, Valora will be fully crewed including a professional Captain. You and your guests will be welcome to be as active or as passive as you like. Those who wish to be involved may assist in the handling of Valora throughout the day, and we are also happy to show non-sailors and children the ropes! Those who wish to observe may do so in comfort from the center cockpit. Valora has enjoyed and entertained guests from 8 - 80 years of age. No special skills or abilities are required to enjoy the day - just comfortable clothing and soft soled shoes. Four to six guests will make for the most enjoyable day - more than six are not permitted under Valora's Coast Guard license.
Folks should plan on being flexible regarding time as sailboats do not run on schedules. Boarding time and directions to the dock (where you will catch a launch out to the schooner or where the crew will pick you up in Valora's tender) can be confirmed with Valora's Captain - Lu Yoder - any time prior to your charter. If you charter for the full day, or the afternoon, you are welcome to hang aboard at your leisure once the schooner is back on her mooring. Be considerate however as the crew does live aboard.
Valora's is comfortable, but spartan - of course there is a head (toilet), but other facilities are limited.
Lifejackets are provided for adult guests, but in fine weather you don't have to wear them. Children under twelve must wear a lifejacket, and children under eight should bring their own lifejackets that fit well.
Bring warm clothing, sun hats, and sunscreen.Sailing is more fun if you don't get cold or sunburned! Although we have ordered beautiful sunny weather for your charter date, carrying a rain jacket is still a good idea!
Guests are encouraged to bring their own picnics, snacks, and refreshments. Anything you would like to eat or drink must be brought aboard. Wine and beer are allowed, but liquor and cigarettes are not. Cameras are a must!
You will be thrilled by the green and blue beauty of New England's coastal waters all the more if you avoid becoming green and blue yourself! If any guest in your party is prone to sea sickness, we recommend they take Bonine two hours before sailing.
Please let us know your guest list so we may greet you by name.
We look forward to sailing with you!
